Why did you join the board?
I joined the MAITC board because I am passionate about students increasing their knowledge of where food comes from. With just 2% of the population being farmers, there is a great need to share our story and educate others about what farmers do since food impacts all of us! By being a part of the board, I am able to play a small part in increasing ag literacy for students and making resources readily available for educators.
What MAITC program or initiative are you most passionate about and why?
While so many of the MAITC programs are important, I think the Ag Mag is the one I am most passionate about! I was a teacher for just a year before starting the job I have now, but during that time, I recognized the importance of good resources for students in the classroom such as the Ag Mag - one that is not only educational, but that they will enjoy using.
What is your favorite agricultural product and why?
Beef! While I support all agricultural products, I have a special place in my heart for beef. Having been raised on a beef operation and now working for the Minnesota Beef Council, I have seen first-hand the care and concern that goes into raising cattle. It truly is a way of life. Plus, beef tastes amazing, contains vital nutrients, and is so versatile to cook with! What's not to love?
