Cathleen Drilling
MAITC, Inc. Foundation Board Member
Why did you join the board?
I joined the MAITC board because of my background in science education and my passion for helping all young people understand where their food, fiber, and natural resources come from. I believe every student should see that these fields are not only vital to our everyday lives, but also exciting areas of study and meaningful career opportunities right here in Minnesota.
What MAITC program or initiative are you most passionate about and why?
I’m most passionate about MAITC’s classroom resources and professional development opportunities for educators. Teachers are powerful multipliers—when we equip them with high-quality, engaging lessons that connect agriculture to science, technology, and daily life, we reach thousands of students across the state.
What is your favorite agricultural product and why?
I have a soft spot for Minnesota apples! They represent the innovation and collaboration that define Minnesota agriculture—blending science, local pride, and a love of good food. Plus, nothing beats a crisp Honeycrisp in the fall!
What is your profession?
I work at the University of Minnesota in the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences (CFANS) as the Director of Strategic Outreach. My work focuses on connecting educators and students to opportunities in agriculture, food, and natural resource sciences through outreach, partnerships, and career exploration initiatives.
