Why did you join the board?
I think this is a great opportunity for us to give school teachers the tools they need to make sure kids understand agriculture. I love giving back to agriculture making sure kids understand where their food comes from and why we have implemented some of the practices in caring for the land and our livestock. We as farmers do this every day and Agriculture in the Classroom is a great venue to explain this.
What MAITC program or initiative are you most passionate about and why?
Teacher tours are great. They give educators a firsthand view on the farm. Seeing is always believing.
What is your favorite agricultural product and why?
It’s a tie between milk and beef! I am a dairy and beef farmer. It's hard to beat a steak with a glass of milk. Both are great ways to get great nutrition and fuel up your body.
What is your profession?
I’m a partner at Riverview and my family also crop farms corn, soybeans, alfalfa and sugar beats and have a herd of registered hereford cows.
