Why Midwest Dairy Association Supports the MN Ag in the Classroom Mission?
Lisa McCann RDN, Wellness Manager at Midwest Dairy Association, shared why they are excited to support MAITC Foundation, “Midwest Dairy has been a proud supporter of Minnesota in the Classroom for over 36 years. At Midwest Dairy, we are committed to building trust in dairy and building dairy sales on behalf of our dairy farmers shareholders. Minnesota Ag in the Classroom is a perfect partner to bring dairy to life. One of the reasons we value this partnership is really due to the people; I can’t say enough about working with Keri and Sue over the years. We’ve enjoyed collaborating on projects, and bringing assets to help amplify both Ag in the Classroom and Midwest Dairy. One of our annual events is the book read. In 2023, Princess Kay of the Milky Way and Minnesota Vikings Harrison Phillips participated.
We also really appreciate the mutual support and connecting with consumers and sharing like-minded resources like Midwest Dairy’s Adopt a Cow program. The Adopt a Cow Program connects classrooms to dairy farmers as students can adopt a calf for the school year. Furthermore, we really appreciate connecting the dots through Farm Camps that incorporate dairy farms. At Midwest Dairy, we really view this partnership as a win-win-win. It’s a win for dairy farmers, a win for the Ag in the Classroom and above all it’s really a win for the youth who have been exposed to agriculture one lesson at a time. Just seeing the numbers this year, that is really awesome to see the growth. Thank you Minnesota in the Classroom for the opportunity to partner with agriculture literacy.”
Why is the MN Ag in the Classroom Foundation Executive Director Excited About This Partnership?
Ann Marie Ward, Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom, Inc. Foundation Executive Director, stated, “Midwest Dairy has been partnering and supporting Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom for 36 years. That’s so exciting! Their financial commitment, contribution and engaging support inspire our whole team. It was during the pandemic that Midwest Dairy provided an opportunity for MAITC to explore and learn from their professional production crew pro tips for hosting large virtual events. This generous partnership provided a priceless foundation for cultivating years of virtual experiences produced by MAITC. These opportunities for students and educators across Minnesota offer shared educational experiences, and allow groups to experience parts of the agriculture industry that you cannot take a bus load of students and educators to. MAITC has a growing virtual library for on demand use by educators and organizations seeking to increase agricultural literacy. Remarkable partnership investments like the one with Midwest Dairy produces unlimited dividends for years to come, helping students see there is a place for them in agriculture in their future.”
